ANGEL #5 First Look

Spike & Yet Another Wesley Sacrifice in ANGEL #5

Discover the Bloody Vampire Without a Soul and . . . A Sinister Angel Lookalike in May 2022

BOOM! Studios revealed a first look at ANGEL #5, the next issue of a brand new eight-issue comic book series available May 2022. Producer and director of AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire and Eisner Award-nominated writer Christopher Cantwell (Iron Man, The United States of Captain America), artist Daniel Bayliss (WWE The New Day: The Power of Positivity, Labyrinth: Coronation), colorist Patricio Delpeche (Origins), and letterer Becca Carey (Wonder Woman) shine the spotlight on everyone’s favorite vampire with a soul in the role of a lifetime . . . Detective Angel.

Spike is just fine not being the hero Angel is, but when Wesley makes yet another sacrifice for Spike, Spike goes on a mission to save his life. Meanwhile, Angel realizes there might be a sinister version of himself running around—and a new movie role outside of Los Angeles on the horizon…

ANGEL #5 features main cover art by acclaimed illustrator Nimit Malavia (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and variant cover art by fan favorite artist Jahnoy Lindsay (Hawkeye: Kate Bishop).

Angel premiered on the WB Network on October 5th, 1999 and was a spin-off from the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The series ran for five seasons from 1999-2004, and revolved around Angel, the tortured vampire destined to walk the earth with a soul who moved to LA to set up shop as a supernatural private investigator. Despite Angel’s best efforts to deal with the sins of his past all by himself, Angel Investigations soon became home to other lost souls searching for redemption and willing to fight by his side.

ANGEL is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including BRZRKR by Keanu Reeves, Matt Kindt, and Ron Garney; We Only Find Them When They’re Dead by Al Ewing and Simone Di Meo; Seven Secrets by Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo; Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera; Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; Proctor Valley Road by Grant Morrison, Alex Child, and Naomi Franquiz; The Many Deaths of Laila Starr by Ram V and Filipe Andrade; Alice Ever After by Dan Panosian and Giorgio Spalletta; and the upcoming Grim by Stephanie Phillips and Flaviano.
