After a pandemic strikes, a dorm complex at a small American college is quarantined with all of the students trapped within. What first starts out as youthful freedom from authority soon devolves into a violent new society.
Writer Clay McLeod Chapman sites the Avian Flu as his inspiration for this modern horror story. “This is a horror story that’s rooted itself in reality. These on campus quarantines are real. Just this year, the year of our lord 2017, a fresh outbreak of Avian Flu has sent colleges spinning over how to contain school-bound outbreaks. We’re only one sneeze away from Lazaretto happening.”
Chapman has worked on Edge of Spider-Verse, The Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, American Vampire, and Vertigo Quarterly, in addition to his award nominated horror work. His feature length film The Boy starred Elijah Wood and was nominated for Best Indie Horror Film at the 2016 iHorror Awards and two 2016 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
“[This will be] a university experience quite different from the ordinary! At least compared to my own personal experience from uni,” says Levang. “It definitely has some interesting characters, intriguing pacing and blood. Lots of blood”
