BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at BUFFY ’97 #1, a special oversized one-shot issue celebrating the 25th anniversary of the beloved global icon with a rad new spin. Coming June 2022, get ready to tap into some geeky joy in this issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Jeremy Lambert (Doom Patrol), with artist Marianna Ignazzi (An Unkindness of Ravens), colorist Mattia Iacono, and letterer Ed Dukeshire.

In this special celebratory edition, Buffy Summers and Willow Rosenberg find themselves trapped… in a ‘90s teen magazine! But obviously it’s not just any old magazine–this one’s part of a demon’s diabolical plan to feed on teenage insecurities. Meanwhile, in true ‘90s makeover montage-style, Spike gives Giles a hand with a fresh new look to impress a very special someone!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered on March 10th, 1997. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003. Chosen to battle vampires, demons and other forces of darkness, Buffy is aided by a Watcher who guides and teaches her as she surrounds herself with a circle of friends called the Scooby Gang.

BUFFY ’97 #1 features main cover art by acclaimed illustrator Qistina Khalidah (Power Rangers Universe) and variant cover art by superstar artists Megan Hutchison-Cates (The Nice House on the Lake), Yoshi Yoshitani (Zatanna and the House of Secrets), Nick Brokenshire (Star Wars Adventures), and Paulina Ganucheau (Wonder Woman).
