Björn Barends’ Stunning Variant Cover of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s DUNE: HOUSE HARKONNEN #4

Discover the Next Issue From the Authors of  Official Prequel to Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’ in April 2023

BOOM! Studios today revealed the variant cover of DUNE: HOUSE HARKONNEN #4 by Björn Barends (Venom), the latest issue of a brand new twelve-issue comic book series expanding the rich mythology of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The second official, NYT Bestselling prequel to Dune is adapted for the first time by award-winning novelists Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and artist Michael Shelfer (Domino), colorist Patricio Delpeche, and letterer Ed Dukeshire, unveiling a closer look at the rising conflict between beloved characters and bitter villains and available in stores April 2023.

Although Leto and Kailea’s blossoming romance brings about the expectation of their first child, political complications put a strain on their relationship, while a traitor looms in their midst. On Lankiveil, Glossu Rabban turns trophy hunting into what the Harkonnens are known for best–their brutality. And as the years pass, a shadow still follows Leto and Kailea, seeding further discontent, even as an exile from Ix comes seeking help, and maybe even liberation for the planet!

DUNE: HOUSE HARKONNEN #4 features main and variant cover art by highly acclaimed artist Raymond Swanland (Magic: The Gathering) and variant covers by artists Reiko Murakami (The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country), and Gene Ha (Fabels).

Created by visionary writer Frank Herbert, Dune debuted in 1965, has sold millions of copies and is arguably the most admired science fiction novel of all time. After winning the Hugo Award and inaugural Nebula Award, Dune inspired a best-selling novel series and led to multiple live-action adaptations, including the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures. The influence of Dune extends well beyond the world of entertainment, with an incalculable influence on modern scientific thinking about politics, religion, outer space, environmentalism, and more.
