MAW #2 First Look

Your First Look at Jude Ellison S. Doyle and A.L. Kaplan’s MAW #2

Discover the Terrifying Secrets of a Mysterious Commune and its Leader in October 2021

BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at MAW #2, the second issue of a provocative five-issue horror series by award-winning journalist and opinion writer Jude Ellison S. Doyle (Dead Blondes and Bad Mothers: Monstrosity, Patriarchy, and the Fear of Female Power), artist A.L. Kaplan (Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Tricksters), colorist Fabiana Mascolo, and letterer Cardinal Rae, that explores the anger of those trapped by society’s expectations and the monsters born from that collective rage, available in October 2021.

What happens when the monster within the shadows awakens? After being drugged and abandoned on a beach, Marion struggles with inexplicable and frightening changes to her body while her sister, Wendy, continues to try to fit in with the other women at the commune. As they both learn more about the commune and its mysterious leader, Diana Spiro, each new revelation brings the true nature of her motivations and teachings to light.

MAW #2 features main cover art by artist Ariela Kristantina (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr) with Sarah Stern, and variant cover art by acclaimed illustrators E.M. Gist (Conan the Barbarian), and Reiko Murakami (Basketful of Heads).
